I have been asked to shoot a promo video on behalf of Radio Lutterworth who are co fundraising with the local Royal British Legion Woman’s Section. The event is a Fun Day taking place in my home town of Lutterworth. I aspire to always be involved with intimate, local projects such as this. It’s all about giving something back to community!
One of the most exciting features of the event is the Firewalk, seeing many brave, dedicated fundraising walking over hot coals!
I wish the entire event all the greatest of success.

Britain is a country that has an abundance of attractions for all tastes and desires. Myself and my developers Strawberry Stone are currently working on a brand new website that is set to promote Britain and; the wonderful ‘days out’, educational visits and holiday destinations it has to offer.

I have a great passion for worthy causes and strive to utilize my skill as a filmmaker and media practitioner to aid the work of charitable organizations and projects that stimulate communities.
I am continually looking to work with charities, voluntary and ‘not for profit’ organizations.
In such austere times I understands that budgets are often very constrained and therefore offer a considerably reduced fee to registered charities and other worthy causes. Myself and a collective of talent can help in every aspect of producing a beautifully composed, professionally filmed and edited media artifact. We can film your upcoming events, produce a promotional video for your organizations website, social media pages or perhaps help with editing existing, previously shot footage.
Please email me info@danielghughes.com or telephone +44 (07714) 081664 for an informal discussion.

Defining Independent Film Production
What made you decide to choose to get into this sort of career?
From an early age, I have been fascinated with ‘how it’s done’ in film and television. I was initially inspired by greats like Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton and Francis Ford Coppola, and blockbusting Hollywood movies such as Jurassic Park and Jaws gave me the ‘wow factor’. I thought, ‘I want to do that!’ Every time I went to the cinema there was an excitement, a feeling of disengagement from the real world. I wanted to be able to be creative (in whatever context) and at the same time earn a living from it!
These days its often hard to become completely disconnected from the digital world we live in. if your bored waiting for a delayed train or relaxing over lunch, Netflix offers a welcome selection of films and television programs to watch whilst on the move. At only £5.99 is well worth it, with apps for the iPhone and iPad I think this will be service that will take off. I did have a few account queries intially, though after speaking to a couple of polite American gentleman who answered my questions quickly and with no fuss, I would certainly recommend giving Netflix a try!
The concept of ‘film rental by post’ has been around for some time now and has unfortunately sunk the local video shop. When I first heard of the idea of receiving a DVD through the post I admit to being rather pessimistic. I wasn’t sold on the idea initially. In the end, probably persuaded by the efficiency of most other internet innovations, I took the plunge at some point in history of 2011. I signed up for a Lovefilm account and was quite surprised at the pain free service they offered. Lovefilm has an amazingly vast catalogue and for someone who has such a diverse taste in film and television this is a bonus. Its great to have such a library at my disposal, be it for research, inspiration or simply to kick back on a cold British evening.
One of Life’s Players is an experimental short based around a prose wrote a few years ago by Daniel G Hughes. Written in the prose are a number of quite upfront and powerful statements. “in the circle of life we co-exist with an assemblage of unadulterated attractions and fascinations”. Through the diverse and haunting beauty of Super8, writer and director Daniel G Hughes wanted to depict images that an audience can relate to events in there lives and the surrounding world we live in. One of Life’s Players has no conventional plot and perhaps to some it might be hard to understand.
One of Life’s Players will be reminiscent of films such as Baraka (Ron Fricke, 1992), Koyaanisqatsi (Godfrey Reggio, 1983) and Man with a Movie Camera (Dziga Vertov, 1929), which don’t really have a traditional narrative drive. These experimental masterpieces rely on the use of stunning cinematography and a unique score allowing the audience to create their own story. One of Life’s Players portrays images such as a derelict, empty room with just a fireplace, and a photograph spattered with blood to depict how life can often take a turn for the worst. Sometimes a lifetime can often feel like the blink of any eye, One of Life’s Players depicts this by using images like a young woman’s eye, which transforms into an old woman’s eye and other similar juxtapositions.
Matutinus uses time-lapse photography to capture the awakening of a town where many normal morning activities behold a somewhat mesmerizing character
when depicted in this way. In particular, as for a number of his projects, Matutinus director Daniel G Hughes was inspired by the works of Ron Fricke (Baraka, 1992) and Godfrey Reggio (Koyaanisqatsi, 1983),who are renowned for using this haunting style of cinematography.
Matutinus, meaning early morning in Latin is a short exploring how a day can start off well and during the course of the morning things can begin spiral downhill. Opening at dawn before moving onto images of people going about their morning activities Matutinus also explores the not so ‘fluffy bunny’ images of graveyards, domestic arguments and civil madness. Early morning can be transformed into a somewhat tranquil atmosphere and can in a way be the calm before storms ahead. The audience see how as the day goes on many people experience an uphill struggle, be it at work, home or study.
